Spirit singing - Spirit singing is a singing practice created by Mary Elizabeth Wheeler and Shanwa Carol in 1985 after working with Susan Osbon, then the lead singer for the Paul Winter Consort. The practice is a combination of voice empowerment, emotional catharthis, and spiritual experience, or in some cases, just an opportunity for those who don't believe they can sing to try singing in a safe environment.
